The NBA has kicked off its season, and I am one of the few that is very excited. To honor that excitement, I have posted a view clips of my favorite ex NBA players. I am going to follow this up with a few of my favorite current NBA players later in the week.

I too am excited, i do like the nba, i follow it a lot in reg season but i do think next to baseball its the best playoffs so i really get into then. Lakers will re-peat over the bulls in five.
There is no way the Bulls make it back to the playoffs. The lost there best player in Ben Gordon. Did you watch the Celtics series last year, big ben made all there big shots. They will probably be the 7th seed in the the east this year. The East is going to pretty loaded this year, Cleveland, Orlando, Washington, and Boston are all going to have very good teams. You can throw in Atlanta and Philly into that mix as well. But one of those first four will represent the East in the Conference finals. As for the west. It looks like San Antonio, Denver, LA, and Dallas as the teams to beat, with Portland and Utah in the mix as well. I actually think the East has caught up to the west, but I agree the Lakers are the favorites again. As long as they have Odom, Bryant, and Gasol they will be the team to beat.

Ha, I agree. Plus with all the off season shit Rose went threw, who knows where they will be. I do like your top four but dont forget about the heat. A healthy wade and beasley could be a very leathel combo.
The west is stacked and one of those teams will win it. I love the artest deal and if he keeps his head on i think that will lock it up. I feel the zen master did a great job with rodman for a few years and i think ron wants a ring so bad that he will shut up and put up
I like denver a lot cause of mello. Chauncy was what got them where they went last year, if they stay healthy they could cause some damage.
I agree the east is better but they still will have a .500 team making the playoffs and that is weak. They may be top heavey but the bottom is pretty low. Yeah that will make for a good confrence championship but after the west goes threw there teams they will be prepared and win it again
I'm just not much of an NBA fan, aside from the playoffs, which are absolutely awesome. The regular season often looks a lot like the NFL Preseason. Guys fucking around, nobody playing defense, a lot of half-assed one-on-one shit.
My NBA interest is directly dependent upon the Bucks' current success level. Guess where I'm at right now?
I grew up a Bucks fan - what Wisconsin kid wouldn't have been? They had won the NBA championship in '71 and went back to the Finals the year I was born ('74). They were in the playoffs every single year from the time I was 5 until I was 17, including 3 trips to the conference finals. Then, they disappeared.
I got halfway interested again when I moved to Milwaukee in '98. The Bucks made the playoffs the first three years I was in town, including coming within a missed put-back of reaching the Finals in 2001.
Wake me up when the Bucks win 50 games. I'll be watching Bo Ryan's team and old Badger football games on the DVR until then.

I agree being a Bucks fan is hard. Management has fucked this team up royally and there is a good chance when Herb is ready to step down as owner, the team will leave Milwaukee. That would be sad because I remember the buzz in the city in 01. I was a freshman in college and everywhere you went people were talking about the Bucks. I think they are started back on the right track, they at least play hard every night. Though they are years away from being a title contender.
I would like to dispel the notion that NBA players do not play defense. Just because the professional game features more isolation style basketball and higher scoring does not mean these teams do not play defense. These guys work there ass of on the defensive end, all year long, not just the playoffs. The difference being in the playoffs the intensity level rises to another notch. The NBA has a bad rep for not playing defense and i just disagree completley. THe level of play is at the highest and the best basketball players in the world make a high percentage of shots. In college most good teams shoot around 40 % from the field and maybe 34% from deep. In the NBA great teams shoot around 50% fromt he field and over around 38% from deep. The fact of the matter is they are just better at putting the ball in the bucket and there is nothing the defense can do. Watch a game, and I bet when you see a guy going at the rim he is contested by very athletic guys trying to stop him. The great players just go higher, and finish strong.
Then go watch a big ten basketball game, that is known for its great defense. Most of the guys cannot hit wide open jumpers, at least not at a high percentage. The bigs have trouble finishing consistently at the rim, and teams turn the ball over at an alarming rate. You dont see that in the NBA.
Dont get me wrong I love the college game, but if you think you are watching better defense in college, you are fooled. These guys dont forget how to play defense. The fact is the players are all better making it easy for teams to score and finsish plays.
I'm not talking about stats, I'm talking about watching guys flat out stand still on defense. So much so that when a guy actually plays defense aggressively and hard, he looks kind of funny out there, like the guy at over-40 open gym taking it a little too seriously.
I watch a lot of college hoops and I see kids make mistakes or look the wrong way and get beaten badly, but I don't see them standing around waiting for the other team to shoot so they can get the ball back. Anytime I watch 90 seconds of NBA regular season ball, I see that happen.
