RIP - Jim Jalovec

Jim Jalovec. age 53, died on Thursday night when his helicopter crashed into a mountain in the Dominican Republic, while on a return trip from aid efforts in Haiti. Jim was the brother-in-law of one of the partners in my firm. I didn't know him well, but I did meet and speak with Jim on several occasions over the years, both as a client and at social events. He was a dynamic and fun person. Jim had good financial success as a hard-working business owner in the waste disposal industry, was a big hockey fan and owned a hockey rink in Racine. He knew that he could do something to help in Haiti, so he was using his personal helicopter to fly supplies and medical personnel (which he recruited from Wisconsin) to Haiti. He died trying to help people he didn't even know, and for that, he has my undying respect and admiration. Jim, you will be missed.

Wow that is terrible news. He sounds like a great man, and we all know there are far too few of them already. It sounds like he will truly be missed. My condolences.
