My Thoughts on the Final Four (Long)

First of all I would like to say that the quality of teams is the best that I can remember and any of these teams can win it all. I know it is easy to say that they have all one 4 in a row in a very good tournament but, I honestly think these are the four best teams in the country. Kansas would have to be 4a and I think they would beat UCLA 7 out of 10 but they didnt. What is really interesting is that they all won there conference titles and three of them won conference tourney titles. That is quite impressive. If you look at the toughest road I think they all played similar tough matchups all having one marquee victory this tournament. UCLA, as I mentioned beat Kansas, Ohio State crushed an underrated Memphis team, Georgetown lucked out against both Vandy and Carolina, and Florida has handled there business all throughout, but I thought Oregon would give them a better game. As for coaches Matta and Howland are in the 4th year at there respective schools while Thompson III is in his 3rd year. Donovan has coached 9 years is the only one that has been to a final four, his 3rd, and has as you know won a national championship. I would say he gives Florida a nod in this category. However, all of these coaches are highly regarded and all have there own unique styles that there teams reflect.

Okay lets look at the UCLA vs Florida rematch of last years title game. It is easy to say UCLA lost more from last years team Jordan Farmar is gone while Florida basically has the same team. However I think this will be a better matchup. Collison has blossomed and is as good as Farmar was. He is great a stretching the D. Ship is also somebody who didnt play last year and can provide scoring. UCLA is known for the defense, espicially interior defense, where they are known for double teaming all post entries. This is going to be difficult with the skilled passing big men of Florida. This could burn them if Humphrey's and Green continue to shoot the way the have. I think the key of the game will be can UCLA control the glass and not let Floridas bigs impose there will. I think UCLA can score on Floridas D and they will will give them some problems with there quickness on the perimeter. I think this will be a close game but I think the bigs of Florida, Noah, Brewer, Horford will in the end be too much.

In the other game you have the most intriguing matchup of the year and maybe of the last 10 final fours. The return of the big man to college basketball 7'1" Greg Oden vs 7'2" Roy Hibbert. What a matchup not to mention some other skilled big men in this game Othello Hunter, Ivan Harris, Dejuan Summers, coming off a great regional, Vernon Macklin, and probably the best player in the game Jeff Green. You could probably even include highly touted tOSU freshman Daquan Cook and David Lighty and Senior glue guy, Pat Ewing Jr. in the mix for the battle inside. However I think there are two huge keys to this game, can the Georgetown backcourt match the or at least come close to matching the production of tOSU backcourt. Jamar Butler, Ron Lewis, and Mike Conley have been so good for the Buckeyes all year. They create, they lead, and they are all good shooters. THey open it up for the big guys of the Buckeyes. Sapp and Wallace need to do the same. I really think Oden and Hibbert will cancel eachother out. Hunter on Green is a fascinating matchup, but I think whatever teams guards can hit a few shots and take care of the ball will lead there team to victory. I hate saying this but it is hard for me to bet against Mike Conley and they way he is playing right now. My pick is a final matchup of Florida vs Ohio State. Either way they should be great exciting games. Monday I will give my Championship preview.

Humpday: Siennna Miller

OK I am going to say it, Jude Law, is a douche, or in terms he would better understand a wanker. He dumps Sienna Miller for Lindsey Lohan. Lindsey, not bad by any means, but come on. It makes me want to kick him in the nuts. Anyways Miller is sexy as hell and one of the hottest blonds out there. Enjoy!!!

Weekend

I had a pretty fun weekend. It was my first weekend drinking in Marshall in a while and it was actually pretty fun well not really the Marshall part but the drinking part. Friday was a rough one as we partied pretty hard. Saturday i played in the Marshall Alumni Tournament and I thought we played pretty well for a bunch of out of shape boozers, but we fell short in the Championship game to some young bucks. It was a fun time and nobody got hurt, which I thought for sure was going to happen for me. Highlight of the tourney just being back together with the old team we may have won if we were in a little better shape. After the tourney I helped Worm move into his beautiful new home which wasnt the funnest thing to do after a couple of basketball games but I was already sweaty so it was no big deal. Saturday went out with a big Marshall crew, but momentum died fast and we were home by midnight. Sunday cleaned, picked up a couch for the basement, and had dinner with the rents.

Switching topics I have meant to talk about this for a while now but havent gotten around to it. I have started watching the Sopranos, I am on the third disc of season four, and this is simply put the best television show ever to air. I dont even know if you could call it a TV show it is more like a miniseries that has aired for six years. Anyway what is there not to like about this show, it has something for everyone and it has you rooting for even the most ruthless criminals. I have seen pretty much every maffia movie released in the last 20 years and this is by far the most fascinating look on "Family orientated Italian lifestyle". The last season airs in less than two weeks so I have a lot of watching to do before then but with this show I can easily watch 3-4 episodes a night. If you have not seen an episode dont spoil anything and start from the beginning, I promise you will love it.

I need everyones number my cell phone is broken and i have to get a new one so I wont have anyones numbers please post them if you ever want to hear from me again. I am hoping I can have the same number but I havent gotten my new phone yet.

McRoberts to go Pro

Well it is a sad day for me, one of my all-time favorite college players has decided to leave school and head to the NBA. Most people believe he did not live up to the hype he had coming out of college but I believe he was a tremendous player who will show how good he is when he gets to the next level. He never really fit into the Duke style as he needs to use his biggest strength his athleticism and versatillity to be successful. Duke, took the air out of the ball and played a half court game forcing him to play with his back to the basket and it kind of hindered what he could do. He will be a lottery pick and look for many Sportcenter highlights at the next level. Here is a taste.

Back From Vegas!!!

OK it has been a while since my last post. Last week I was frantically trying to get ready for my trip and finish up my bathroom before I left so I did not post anything. I am back from my trip and ready to get this thing rockin again. First of all I would like to say that Las Vegas isnt a real place it is a fantasy world. I cannot imagine living there the pace, the glam, the cost was all to much for me. I mean sleeping just does not happen there. The first two nights I probably got 6 hours of combined sleep. You dont know where the drunk stops and the hangover begins. I woke up and started drinking and I had a drink in my hand pretty much non-stop. This is easy to do when you are at the casino free drinks if you are gambling but when we went out this became much more difficult. A round of drinks for myself and two friends that went out was $30 and that was typical for everyplace we went. The girls in Vegas are not real...Litterally it was Nip/Tuck out there. Every woman had fake breasts and I loved it. $$$ talks and when you dont go out there with much of it you cannot make a big splash. It would have been a hundred times more fun if I wasnt on a budget and I dont reccommend anyone going if they are on one. Strip Club heaven we went to two strip clubs and they both were the best I have ever gone to. Touching by all means but get ready to spend big as we went to one that had a $30 cover three bottles of Miller Lite were $28. I got a bottle of water to keep me from throwing up on the bar and before I could tell him too not open it I was charged $8. With all that said the city of sin is must see and I will be back with a bigger bank roll prepared to have a lot more fun. Now onto basketball my heart was literally crushed over the weekend when both of my teams were upset. It was a tough year for the dookies, but they were very young and are reloading with Talent so I look for another run on #1 seeds and sweet sixteens. As for the Badgers it was very tough to see there most talented team ever bow out so early in the tourney and I think it can be equated to the complete lack of post presence during the end of the year. They just did not have anyone to throw the ball too for easy buckets when they needed one. Neways a #2 seed and a runner up in conference is a good year no matter how you look at it and thank you Alando, Kam, and J-Chees for a lot of good memories. All three had great careers as Badgers. Oh year and if so how Kevin Krueger reads this I hope you get syphillis because you really pissed me off.

Humpday: Hayden Panettiere

I have only caught the show Heroes briefly but I did see her and I am going to add that to my tivo list. I was very very suprised to find out that she does not turn 18 until August so if anyone from the Federal Government reads this dont lock me up becuase she looks older than 18. Dont they all. Anyway you may remember her from her role as the little girl in the movie Remember the Titans. Which kind of brings up an interesting blog topic, which movie has had the most stars in it before they were stars. As that movie had a young Hayden, Kate Bosworth, Ryan Gosling, Donald Faison, and Ethan Suplee who have all gone to do big things. Dont worry I am on it.

DVD Rental Day: Date Movies

OK I am far from the expert at the dating scene but I do know some good movies that you can watch while you are with the girl that will appeal to not only her, which is the point, but you guys out there also. As most of you know I cannot stand romantic comedies and I hate seeing them so here are some alternatives to that new Hugh Grant/J-Lo movie that I am sure is hitting the movie store this week.

Garden State: Written and directed by Zach Braff, the star of the citcom scrubs. If you are not familiar with him he has a dark look on comedy and relationships that is quite refreshing from most garbage that is out there now. Plus guys Natalie Portman is very nice.

A River Runs Through It: Brad Pitt is one guy that both men and women can watch and say I want to be him or girls can say I want to be with him. Well I think this is his best role to date and yes I have seen Seven and Babel. Robert Redford is an underrated director and this is not really a love story there are some definant love aspects to it.

9 1/2 Weeks: For any of you over thirty that read this you dont need to know about this movie because you have probably seen it, but if you are a guy that would like your date to end well i suggest renting this movie. Starring then hearthrob Mickey Rourke and the ever sexy Kim Bassinger this is one of the sexiest movies I have ever seen.

Closer: Okay I this movie and the next movie can be hard for a couple to watch but if you are new on the dating seen I reccommend them both. Since they both deal with affairs they can be uncomfortable, but this is a really good movie starring Clive Owen, Natalie Portman, Jude Law, and Julia Roberts, its smart its sexy and overall I think guys and girls will enjoy this movie.

Unfaithful: See above for a reason you may not want to see this movie, but if you can stomach Richard Gere for an hour and half, I know that is hard, rent this movie. Diane Lane is one of the sexiest people over the age of forty on the planet and up and coming actor Olivier Martinez, will give the girls something to dream about. This is not a great movie by any means but it will put you in the mood and is pretty entertaining.

Weekend

What a weekend it was. We worked hard to get ready for the party and I could not be happier with the way things turned out. Thank you everyone for coming and I apologize for my early exit from the party. My tolerance was low and I ended up crashing real hard around 1 oclock. Did I mention I got really sick before passing out. At least the bathroom in my room was finished so I didnt make a mess. In hind sight drinking that bottle of wine when the ice was gone was a mistake. Some of my highlights had to be the old man just getting hammered, my housewarming gifts I absolutely love them, Mark getting busted smoking pot by my mom, seeing everyone, and sipping on that McCallan 12 after 2 months off. Man that tasted awesome. Thank you everyone for making it great.

House Party

Well I am not sure if everybody knows this but last summer was the most fun summer I have ever had. I was done with school, started making some money, and I wanted to make sure I partied hard, becuase I did not know how many more summers I would have with out much responibility. When my parents made me aware that they would be spending the biggest weekend of the summer out of town I was thrilled. Marshall Fest is kind of a big deal. Why? Not because of the terrible country bands, or the expensive pizza, or even the fact that all of Marshall's finest come out. No what makes Marshall Fest great is it is the one weekend each summer where anything goes. I mean drink as much as you want, pass out where you want, piss where you want. Any crazy idea in the world you can think of try it out at Marshall Fest. When I found out my parents were leaving I knew that a party would have to be done right. For one the parties at worms house the two years prior set one hell of a precedent. Two I am a big guy and i think big, I like big things, a big steak, a big ass, big tits, I think you get the picture I wanted to throw a big bash. Well the week prior I was searching the net for some wop recipes. It was tough to find the right one, plus it was hard sifting through all of those italian-american hate sites. Finally I found it. It read: one bottle of vodka, one bottle of clear rum, one bottle of everclear, 4 2-Liters of sprite, 2 fruit punch concentrate, 1 lemonade concentrate, and q limeade concentrate. THis little concoction will be forever know as "Jungle Juice" and has taken down better men than me. Well most people under estimated the power of the juice. When I made the first batch there were about ten of us there and we thought that it was kind of week. I gave the order to get the ingrediants for another batch. People started coming, the weather was beautiful, and I had a shit load of food to grill out. Well it turns out it is pretty damn hard to cook when you are bombed. After the first batch of juice I was just that. Luckily I had a friend to help me on the grill. Still I wanted to help and although i gave him my spatela and fork I kept my apron. The brats were getting done and he wanted me to ask how people wanted there burgers. I got the great idea of dropping trow, leaving nothing but the apron on. I went out and asked everyone how they wanted their burgers than turned giving everyone a show that made them surely lose there appetite. We partied until all the booze was gone and we were ready for the fest. I would like to say I remember what happened from here but I dont remember getting there and I sure as hell dont remember coming home. All I know is about 4 people got laid at my place that night including in my bed, but I woke up with a mean headache, a raging clue, and nothing to show for the fucking ridiculous mess that was my parents place.

House Party!!!

Well my housewarming party is getting so very close and all i can think about is partying so i would like to fill you in on a few of my favorite house party stories. My Freshman year everytime I drank i did it to prove a point. That point being i can pretty much take down anything you put in front of me and then some sort of funny shit would usually result in this. Well I didnt know a lot of people that owned houses so most of my best action was happening at the dorms or some overcrowded party that I showed up late too. Well when i heard that my good friend Aaron's brother was having a party at there place I was ecstatic. To understand what party was going to be like you have to understand how much a cheap bottle of booze costs. I would say that a rail bottle 1.75L usually goes for 12-15 dollars. So when you hear that they spent $600 dollars on booze your ears perk a little bit. There house was deep in the heart of Milwaukee. I believe 45th and Viliet not the area you want to be walking around in after dark. When I got to the party we were the first ones there. Down some raggedy old stairs was a makeshift bar with what was one of the greatest collections of booze I had ever seen. Above the bar was a sign 5 dollar cups for just beer 10 dollar cups for beer or mixers. On top of that shots were a buck a piece or you could go with the aptly named "big-shabang" which was ten shots for 5 bucks. Well after a ten dollar cup and a few big shabangs the party was hoppin. It was a blast a bunch of people from the dorms showed up and we were rolling with more good looking chicks than the last snoop dog video. I dont know how we made friends with all of those hotties but i sure wish I would have done something about it. Anyways there was one girl that we all kind have eyes for and she was happy to lead us all on. Well this night I thought it was going to be my lucky night. I mean how could she not be impressed with the beer bong of UV and Coke, or the one of straight UV. Plus I made that fall down the stairs look like Brian Boitano hitting a triple axel. Neways she needed a ride back to the dorms and my boy aaron was kind of sober so I talked him into giving her a ride. So we mix a drink and head back to the eastside. We get there I let her out, she says she is going to channel and I should come with, I insist on getting back in the car with aaron. I know I know I am a fucking idiot and half the time I think that I am a gay and I just dont know it. Anyway we get back in the car and we head back to the party. Well about half way there I warn aaron that he needs to pull over because those bongs aint sittin right in the old stomach. He says we are almost home and I need to toughen up. Well I grab my cup and begin puking all over the place. You would have to ask aaron but I dont think a single drop hit the cup and most of it went all over my new shirt and his brothers car. We got back I ditch my shirt on street sign and head back in for some more partying. At this point I am not the only one the party has claimed. At least ten people were passed out and the spots were going at a premium. So I look around for a bit and come to a room in the unfinished basement that looks cosey. I lay down in what appears to be the most comfortable bean bag ever and pass out. I wake up the next day burried in all of there dirty laundry, yeah the whites!!! So instead of going to dance it up with a hot chick and maybe see where I could take it I end up passing out in someones soiled laundry. Unfreaking real. Side note to the story my shirt was gone the next day someone took it.
