DVD Rental Day

I watched a couple of movies this week and both are worth a rental. Both of these movies star mostly kids in there teenage years. Something that is becoming real common place in cinema these days.

A Guide to Recognizing your Saints: It took a little while for me to get into this movie about a boy growing up in Queens New York who is forced to flee due to the hardships and personal problems he is facing. He returns to find that everyone has turned there back on him because he left. This film tells a story over two different periods of time. One is when Ditto, the lead character, was a boy growing up and one as he is older. The unique thing about this film is it gives away much of the ending as you watch it. In fact it gives you hints throughout the film so you know the outcome, but the director does not care because the story and the interaction of these characters is what is so compelling. I think this is very refreshing, to many of hollywood movies are predictable, I dont think that matters if you can show that in a unique way. This movie has some very good performances and is a joy having this story unfold before your eyes even if you already have the ending figured out.

Alpha Dog: This movie is based on a true story of some wanna be gang bangers who kid nap a kid and hold him ransom over a bad drug deal. I will be the first to say that this is not a great movie and some of the acting is over done. However it is a very unique story and there are some very good performances by Bruce Willis and Justin Timberlake, thats right I just said a good performance by J-timb. I am glad I waited to rent this one instead of going to the theatres but it was definately worth the rent.

Movie Day: Tear Jerkers

Ok I know I am going to catch some serious hell for this, but if a movie can move you to tears than it has to be good right? Well I am going to be the first to admit that all of these movies made me cry and you know what I am cool with it. Look at my picture even the coolest of men cry. I dont want to see any JJ Redick is a pussy replies either. Ok onto the list.

#10 Pay it Forward: This by no means is a great movie Helen Hunt, Kevin Spacey, and Haley Osmont have all been in better films. However this film does have a good inspirational message, that one person can make a difference in the world. The scene where all the people that were effected by pay it forward, show up to pay there respects will bring tears to my eyes any day.

#9 My Girl: Something about kids in a movie that gets my emotions going. Again not a great movie but when McCauley gets stung by the bees and later when his little girlfriend goes and sees him at the funeral home and realizes he is really dead it is really hard to hold back.

#8 Big Fish: This is a truly underrated story about a relationship a grown man has had with his father. I think it could be how close I am with my father why this movie touched me so much. I dont want to give up too much away but there is a great scene where they come to peace at the end and it is quite sad.

#7 Dead Poets Society: O' Captain, My Captain is a line you will always remember from this really good Robin Williams movie. When the teacher gets fired and the boys stand up for him it will literally move you to tears.

#6 Whats Eating Gilbert Grape: If a kid will get me emotionally attached to a movie just think how I get when i see a mentally challenged boy learn his mother is dead. A great performance by Leo and Johnny Deppe make this a great movie and the scene where Leo finds his mother "sleeping" but cant wake her up is very very sad.

#5 Braveheart: Another really good film that is also very inspirational. I have found I am more moved to tears watching someone suceed than I am when i see someone fail or die. The end scende where Wallace is being torchered yet refuses to let go of his ideals is great and very moving.

#4 JerrY Magguire: Again it is the inspirational part of this story that brings me to tears. Right after Jerry's lone star, has his big coming out party, and Jerry is at piece he goes after the women of his dreams. I know very sappy and the whole "You had me at hello" is very lame but watch this movie again and see if you dont tear up during that scene.

#3 Rudy: Ok you get the theme here I am moved by success stories, well more so when I was younger. Well this 5' nothin 100 and nothin star football player had me crying my eyes out. I love the scene where the players all give there jerseys up if so Rudy can suit up and how can you not love the slow clap "Rudy" chant at the end.

#2 Schindlers List: This is one of the saddest films ever made. I guess how could you do a film about that holocaust without it being very sad. Well the part where Schindler is going on about how he could have saved one more is heartbreaking, he did so much, yet there were so many he couldnt save.

#1 Forest Gump: It has been well documented how I cannot watch this movie alone with about crying like a little girl who has just stubbed her toe. Well this is a very sad yet very inspirational story that I could watch a million times. The scene when Forest asks Jenny if young Forest is smart or slow like him makes me weep and honestly I dont give a fuck if anyone thinks that is lame. Deal with it!!!

Lets hear some of the movies that make you cry if you have the balls.

Humpday Part II: Bijou Philips

This is one of the stars of Eli Roth's Hostel Part II. I am looking forward to this movie as I really like where Horror films are headed. More TnA and more Gore. Things just were not working with horror films in the early part of this decade. Saw kind of got the ball rolling and Devils Rejects, Hostel, and The Hills Have Eyes, which are not great flicks, kept it moving. I enjoy this type of movie for its occasional scares, and the shock factor. However I understand many people hate these movies. Its hard to hate a beauty like this. Enjoy!!!

Hump Day Part 1: Megan Fox

I think all my male readers will be glad to know that I will be doing two humpday girls this week. I know thats what she said right? Anyways Megan Fox is starring in the new Transformers movie and is an absolute bombshell. Thanks Irv for putting me on to her, you certainly did not dissapoint. Rumor on the street is she is dating Brian Austin Green, the loser druggy from 90210. I guess that means there is hope for us all especially if we can make some money. Enjoy!!!

I have to share this

As many of you know I lived in Milwaukee basically the last 6 years. Well during that time I had the pleasure of living with some of the funniest most interesting people I have ever met. Three of the guys I have lived with are moving back in together. The three of us lived in the dorms together and then lived in a house together for two more years. Well they are in need of a fourth roommate and I think they found someone to live with them. These guys are very easy to live with, but they sent this possible roommate emails of rules of living in the house. I was forwarded these emails and just think it is too funny not too share. Just so you know this new roommate is a woman.

Email #1 Mark to Marne

Well Marne there are gonna have to be a few things that we hatch out before you are blessed with living with us. First off, what are you bringing to benefit this deal (i.e. couch chair something of physical value). Then we have a few rules that I can think of.
Rule number 1: No drunk Vick in the house. (now dont go run off and tell her right away b/c Irv and Prust didnt know I was making up some rules)
#2 - You have to make sure that Irv doesnt mess the entire house up. i.e. Tuna can, chili bowls, protein shake leftovers and his ave (guitar) isnt left all over the house.
#3 - I am the coolest of the 4 roomies
#4 - You are going to have to have hot chicks come over to our place that are single and easy
#5 - AND MOST important - if we hook up with a chick you lips stay sealed - unless its a super hot chick than you can tell every one.

If any one has any other addendum's please feel free to add them

Email #2 Adam to Marne

Ha ha ha...great stuff! I would have to say you touched on everything, covered all the bases. So Marne how do you feel about living with 3 strapping young bucks like ourselves? The only thing I think we might want to consider is Marne's cooking abilities. I really think this is a great opportunity for her to start applying or developing those abilities by preparing a bi-weekly feast of some sort ( e.g., tacos, tator tot caserole, sloppy joes, etc). Thoughts?

After reading these emails I almost put my place up for sale and moved back down to Milwaukee so I wouldnt miss out on any of the fun. Hopefully they can iron out a contstitution that every one can live by and in the mean time if I get any more of these nuggets i will for sure post them.

Run in with the Law

Well this was a very interesting weekend. My plan was to get some work done around the house, but I new that was going to be a problem early on Friday night, the beers were just tasting too good. Friday we went to a party at my friends Beth and Nathan Cripps' house. It was a great time, enjoyed the weather and the company of some friends I had not seen in a long time and we just partied. Then I got the call from this girl i know saying that your friend Noel is covered in puke and someone needs to pick him up and take him home. So Jake and I being the great friends that we are drove to Waterloo to get him. We sent him to the car while I worked some game and mingled with some loo folks. I think i took like 10 shots on the house that night, what a great bar! Well jake who didnt have one drink the entire time we were there decided that we had enough and that we should leave. On the way home sure as shit we get pulled over by the Dane County Police department. Jake was very sober, I was talking to him all night and new he was in good shape, but I am sure the car reaked of booze and the cop, didnt have to do a lot of CSI work to know that everyone else in the car was bombed. Well they took Jake and gave him a sobriety test and a breathalyzer which he came up just over the legal limit. Son of a bitch, my boy Jake gets a DUI because he decided to quit drinking and try and sober up for the ride home. It had been 3 hours since his last drink, but it did not matter. To top things off Noel who was in vintage form, puked on the side of my car, inside and out, while the cops were both standing there. They took us out of the car searched it and found weed, so I also got into a bit of trouble that night. The cops wouldnt give us a ride home, so drunken Noel had to call his mother to come pick us up. We waited with the cops too only find out that one of the cops has a personal vendetta against me. This cop that pulled us over had pulled me over once before, the night that I got busted for being at a party my senior year. He was like "you are Matt Browne, I remeber pulling you over with that one girl". I was like well dude since we have such a rich history you think you could look the other way on this one. Anyways I doubt that will be the case, but still kind of a funny coincedence. Noels mom took us home and picked up Jake. It was a terrible ending to a fun evening. Saturday we laid low and had a few people over and watched the UFC pay-per-view. Some great knockouts and upsets! Sunday a couple of the Milwaukee boys came up and we had a really good time. Played some ball, grilled out, and when the Fox was completely dead we decided to check out the local gentlemens club, which to no suprise was just the atmosphere we needed to take it up a notch. I wont give any specifics but lets just say Pac-Man would have been proud. Monday was supposed to be a work day but ended up being a straight recovery day. Now it is back to reality and my mind and body are just starting to understand that. It was definately an up and down weekend.

Blog Movie Quiz

If you would like to try this quiz send your answers to my email madmully@yahoo.com. Please dont post your answers on this blog. If you are stuck on one you may ask for help on the blog and I will give you a hint. I think these are mostly easy but there are some difficult ones. Good luck!

1. “I like simple pleasures, like butter in my ass, lollipops in my mouth. That's just me. That's just something that I enjoy.”

2. ” After that my guess is that you will never hear from him again. The greatest trick the devil ever pulled was convincing the world he did not exist. And like that... he is gone.”

3. “You gonna do somethin'? Or are you just gonna stand there and bleed?”

4. “I have to lie to women to get laid. And I don't score much. I got a really small dick, it's pathetic.”

5. " If you wanna smear mud on your ass, smear mud on your ass, just be honest about it. Look Gene, I've never told anyone this before, but I can suck my own dick, and I do it a lot.”

6. " Shut your fat ass Rayvie, I can't buy a pack of smokes without runnin' into nine guys you've fucked!”

7. "Do me a favor, will you? Would you mind washing off that perfume before you come back to our table?”

8. “Never take it seriously, you never get hurt. Never get hurt, you can always have fun. And if you ever get lonely, you just go to the record store and visit all your friends.”

9. “Look, you're my best friend, so don't take this the wrong way. In twenty years, if you're still livin' here, comin' over to my house to watch the Patriots games, still workin' construction, I'll fuckin' kill you. That's not a threat. Now, that's a fact. I'll fuckin' kill you”.

10. “Fool you don't go to college to be talkin' to no bitches. Your black ass 'posed to be learnin' somethin'. Can't learn shit talkin' to no stupid ass bitch”.

11. “You've been pinching loaves on the lawn? I play croquet out there!”

12. “There are only murderers in this room! Michael! Open your eyes! This is the life we chose, the life we lead. And there is only one guarantee: none of us will see heaven.”

13. “I'm not mad, I'm proud of you. You took your first pinch like a man and you learn two great things in your life. Look at me, never rat on your friends and always keep your mouth shut.”

14. “Yeah, thanks. Took the restrictor plate off to give the Red Dragon a little more juice. But it's not exactly street legal, so keep it on the down low.”

15. “It's only after we've lost everything that we're free to do anything.”

16. “You think I got kicked out because of just the aquarium? Nah, it was the handjob. And you know what else? It was worth it.”

17. “There's an important phrase that we use here, and think it's time that you all learned it. Act as if. You understand what that means? Act as if you are the fucking President of this firm. Act as if you got a 9" cock. Okay? Act as if.”

18. “I wasn't like every other kid, you know, who dreams about being an astronaut, I was always more interested in what bark was made out of on a tree. Richard Gere's a real hero of mine. Sting. Sting would be another person who's a hero. The music he's created over the years, I don't really listen to it, but the fact that he's making it, I respect that. I care desperately about what I do. Do I know what product I'm selling? No. Do I know what I'm doing today? No. But I'm here, and I'm gonna give it my best shot.”

19. “All you got to do is use your instincts. How do you think a lion knows to tackle a gazelle? It's written, it's a code written in his DNA, says, "tackle the gazelle." And believe it or not, in every man there's a code written that says, "tackle drunk bitches."

20. “Hold on! No fucking way! You fuckin' notice this? I got fuckin' shot! I got fuckin' shot in the face! I went and got the fuckin' money; I got shot fuckin' picking it up. I've been up for thirty-six fucking hours! I'm taking' that fuckin' car! That fucker's mine! You fucking asshole!”

This is funny

Tuesday: More Than Just a Sausage Race

As you may know I have been trying to structure this blog a little bit more and I cannot promise to stick to the schedule, by having one it helps me think about things to say. So Tuesdays are going to be dedicated to sports and Thursdays to movies.

If you live in Wisconsin and havent heard the Brewers have the best record in the National League, well then you are a freakin idiot. They have taken this state by storm with there hot start and it is starting to look like on of the Wisconsin Franchises is going to start winning again. Living in Milwaukee for close to six years, i know that is a town that is dying for a team to really rally behind. They will be up there with the league leaders in attendence if they can continue this success. It can be a very good baseball town and with the great summers we have here and a beautiful ball park there is no reason not to get out and root for this team.

OK now for my take the Brewers are currently have a record of 25-13. Are you kidding me playing nearly .700 baseball that is incredible for any team, not just a team that hasnt won anything since Moliter and Yount split the team. At first glance take this number with a grain of salt. The central is the weakest division in baseball and they have been beating up on the bad teams. Are they going to play this well the rest of the season, well no. However, they do play in a week division and there is no reason to think they are not as good as the Reds and the Cubs, I have already counted out Pittsburg, St. Louis, and Houston. I probably shouldnt have but I think the Reds, Cubs, and Brewers have much more complete teams. If they can play .500 baseball the rest of the year they will have 93 wins and that should be good enough to win the division.

Reason I think they will win 93:

Reason number one, is a dominating pitching staff. When your ace is pitching worse than anyone else in the starting rotation and you still have won 25 of your first 38 you are in good shape. Ben Sheets is going to pitch better. Yes you can say the other guys Bush, Suppan, and Vargas will come back to the pack a little bit and I will agree but these 3 are quality veteran pitchers that you can count on to give you 6 innings a night.

Reason number two, a dominant backend. I remember thinking when the Brewers traded Carlos Lee that this was Doug Melvin first mistake as GM. I really thought they should have got prospects back and or kept Lee and got the draft pick compensation that would have came with him leaving. I underestimated the importance of a dominant closer. Coco Cordero has been lights out, he has only given up one run all season and has converted all 15 of his save opportunities. This also puts a lot less pressure on Turnbow so he can get back to his nasty ways. Playoff teams have strikeout guys in the 8th and 9th inning and I dont know of any team that have two better than the Brewers do now.

Reason number three, patience with all those young guys. The Brewers are having suprising years from veterans like Mench, Jenkins, and Estrada. However lets face the two guys that are carrying this team are some home grown young guys JJ Hardy and Prince Fielder. These two are having monster starts and look to be the new cornerstones of the Franchise. Brewer fans that were complaining about the lack of free agent spending and losing guys like Sexson, Overbay, and Carlos Lee, well this is the reason we let those guys go. So we can afford to pay the talent that has been building in Brevard County, Huntsville, and Nashville. There is more on the way. Ryan Braun and Yovani Gallardo are two top ten prospects in all of baseball and could provide a Miguel Cabrera or Bobby Jenks type playoff push. Be patient with these young guys they will have there struggles, but they also provide the ability and depth needed to reach the playoffs.

Reason they wont win 93:

The Brewers have teased us before with good starts. This one is probably the most deceiving because they have played a lot at home against some very poor competition. The NL has some very good teams that the Brewers have yet to play and the defending champ Cardinals and the rest of the central can only get better.

The Brewers have had no injuries to note. No player that has been in the lineup reguraly has been on the DL. This is significant because this simple wont happen all year. 162 games is a long time and there will be injuries. It is important to have that depth on your bench and on the farm to fill in when the time comes.

Baby Brewers, this team may still be a year away. The young guys are playing well and are hot, but with all young players they will go in a funk. No way JJ Hardy hits 60 home runs like his pace may suggest. He has 14 career homers and 12 already this year, there is some outlying statistics there. Can these young guys continue to carry this team?

I think this team is legit and even if they dont make the playoffs this year they will be in the race and they will not go down like the lovable losers we have seen in the past. They have the components in place to win now even if they have a tremendous amount of youth on this team. Not too mention the great foundation they are building with Hall, Fielder, Weeks, Hardy, Hart, Sheets, Capuano, Villenueva, Braun, Gallardo. All of these guys with exception to Cappy are home grown guys with a lot of upside, they are also all cheap and under the Brewers control for the next 3-5 years. There window is just about to open and it is going to be fun to watch.

Weekend: Entourage and Sopranos spoiler

This was a definately an up and down weekend for me. Friday went to that funeral and it was so sad. I dont normally get choked up unless I am deep in a cheesy movie, but this was very difficult. I cannot imagine what it must be like to lose a parent so young. Sheila will be missed by a lot of people, evident by my having to watch the funeral from the kitchen on a close circuit tv. After that I headed down to Lake Country, to help a cousin and his lovely wife do some landscaping. As usual they were very gracious hosts and I ended up doing more drinking than actual work. I dont want to sound like every other white guy on the planet and give you a list of drinks i consumed, I just know I should have went to bed about 2 hours earlier than I did. Saturday we finished our work and grilled out before the triad headed down to Milwaukee. I havent been down to Milwaukee in some time and with good reason, i think that trip takes actual years of my life. Wild as usual, unfortunately it wasnt all fun and games. I had to tell someone very close to me that we needed to go our seperate ways, and I did this when i was drunk something I dont reccomend doing. That was a mistake, but I think it was something I needed to do. Hopefully we can both move on from here.

Ok sorry to bore you with every little detail of my weekend, it was a great night for TV last night. Jake and I finished the first season of deadwood, just in time for the start of Sopranos. Maybe not this summer, but do yourself a favor and rent Deadwood and give it a chance. You will quickly fall in love with the shows deep characters, a clever scrip, some of the best dialogue I have ever heard, and my new favorite character in all of tv, Al Swearengen. Sopranos started with a bang! Tony killing Chis was unexpected, but it seemed like the right move for T. As it lifted a huge weight of his shoulders, Chris was unpredictable and that is not a good quality to have in the mob. It was great opportunity for Tony to rid himself to ever having to see Chris completely lose it and turn on the family. I would also like to note this is by far the darkest we have seen Tony since the early years of the show. It could be a downward spiral that ends with his demise. AJ seems to be not cracked out for this new life he is living and this will be an interesting story line down the road. I hope they do not make it the main story however because Robert Iler is not even close to the most interesting character on the show and with only three episodes left I dont want to see too much of him. Tony goes to Vegas to do Peyote with maybe his hotest goomah yet. I dont think trippin and then gambling is a great idea but Tony makes it work, and apparently what he has to do is becoming clear. I think it is going after Phil is going to happen, with some heavy casualties. Still no idea how this is going to end, but Tony believes he has it figured out and it could mean trouble for all involved.

Entourage was the best episode since the premiere. I new Drama's show would not be a flop and I am glad to see him do well for a change. It looks as if he is going to get a movie role now. He could be the first one to leave the coup. Eric and Vince decided if they wanted Medallian they were going to have to purchase it themselves. If I know anything from this show it is two of these guys have there things working out and two of them do not. WIth Turtle getting the girl it looks like he and Drama are on the up and up and Eric and Vince may have just made a big mistake. I still dont think this movie is going to get made, unless it is the last episode becaus I just dont see two guys going to South America to shoot this film while the other stay back, but we will see. For some reason everything usually turns up rosie in this show. Ari is back as the agent, which is great, and I love the fact that they are giving Lloyd more lines this year. A gay guy can be really funny when paired next to a cocksucker like Ari Gold. Anyways I hope they keep drama in the forefront as he is a close second to Ari as my favorite characters. Wait I just hope the show is going to kick into high gear for the second half of the season.

I have been away

I apologize for the recent inactivity of this blog. With the weather changing to being gorgeous everyday, the building community is taking adavantage, therefore I have less time to inform everyone of the rumblings in my life. Well that is alright because there is not much new happening with me. I am starting to realize that owning a house is a full time job. I take one look around my place and realize all the work that has been already done and think well done on the other hand I think of all the work that needs to get done and think that this is going to be a busy summer. My first order of business is to install a patio behind my place. A patio, or deck, is a neccessity if you live in a house with two other guys. First of all it is a place to do all your grilling, a skill I am trying to master, and I am loving every minute of it. It is also a place to go have a beer when you finish a hard days of work, I know most of you are saying when the hell have you ever had a hards day of work. Finally it is a spot for our future hot tub, which I think is the missing link to our so-called bachelor pad. Well I started digging my hole for this patio and sure as shit 5 minutes in, I put my shovel right through the cable line leading into our house. We have since got this fixed, but my stupidness but a delay in the project and I was forced to call the diggers hotline. it makes absolutely no sense that any wire would be buried freakin' four inches undergroud. Anyways after that is done I am going to do some landscaping and my father is urging me to put in a little garden, so I can follow in the footsteps if you will. On another note I will be cleaning up my first car in preparation to sell the 86' cutty. Wow I have some great memories in that car, from puking all over a couple of my buddies from the back seat, to playing high speed bumper cars, and lets not forget waking up and going outside to find out your buddies took your car the night before you fire up your car to see the needle on empty and the sound of a Indy car engine, because the fuckers took it off road and ripped the fucking muffler off. Anyways that car has been really good to me and a big part of my childhood, so I guess I am going to get very emotional when i am getting ready to rid myself of one of my all time favorite toys. Tonight I have the wake of the mother of my first real love. It is going to be a very difficult evening. My only hope is I am strong in my mourning and give my support to the family that opened there arms to me. I keep thinking what I would do if it was one of my parents that passed and the only conclussion I can come up with is, i would be completely lost. For Chelsea, Chad, and Jodie this has to be the hardest thing they have ever had to go through and I cannot even begin to express my sympathies. On a lighter not a new office airs tonight and I have quadruple checked to make sure I have it on my DVR. It will be hard to keep up with the last two episodes. I believe this is the second to last episode so I hope they end the season with a bang. Well that is all I have to report this morning. I have been working on my thoughts of the Brewers this season and I hope to post that sometime this afternoon so stay tuned.

Entourage and Soprano *Spoiler*

Sunday again we were treated with two of the best shoes on Television. First of all I would like to say that Sopranos is the best show ever to not give away the endings. If you have followed the first 6 seasons than you will know that the first 2/3 of the season just set up the many possibilities of what may happen leaving the viewer guessing on what may come. Well this season has been no different and since we know these are the last episodes ever, it leaves you wonderering even more. The big storyline last night was two-fold. First A.J. for the first time looks like he may have a role in the family business. This is very significant because with no ideal successor, AJ could have a prominent role in the future of the family. The other big storyline last night was between Christopher and Paulie and the feud that has been raging. The writers kind of toyed with the idea that Chrissy might go to the feds, but that seems unlikely considering, what i tyrant that kid is. His future with the family is a little unclear now but I still think he is the most likely successor to T and I believe either him or Phil will be taking out Paulie. I would also like to say that Tony made his first cooperative move with the feds giving them some info on a possible terrorist attack. I think this could play an important part in the finish. I will also say that the whack at the end of yesterdays episode was the most shocking that I have seen on the show and dont really know if it was neccassary but I guess it reiterates the fact that Chris is a hot head and you can never really tell with his character. I am truly dissapointed with Meadow this year why even bring her back if she is going to have two lines an episode. I was a little dissapointed there was no Phil or no JR. so this episode wasnt great but it set us up for some more fireworks.

Entourage was decent, but not great again. Finally the return of Ari as the agent seems iminent. I mean that cannot have this show unless Ari is the Vince's agent. Even though the deal for Medallian finally died once and for all. Amanda cut ties with Vince when he put his career in front of his relationship with her. I still think she will play an important role in the show but I think it is clear that Vince needs to get Ari back working for him. Though it seems Ari needs Vince less than Vince needs Ari at this point. Next week I think will be the premier of Dramas movie which i think is going to be a big hit. THink Band of Brothers for Donny Whalberg. Eric and Turle have been pretty pointless so far this year and I think the writers have had problems creating some side stories to keep all the actors involved. I think Eric is going to find Vince his next project. Again this season has been all style and no substance as there was a great cameo performance by Adam Goldberg last night but it really didnt enhance the story. This show has quickly fallen from first to about fifth in my rank of HBO television shows with Deadwood quickly sky rocketing.

A Sad Weekend

On Saturday night someone very dear to me passed away in her sleep. Sheila Borgrud, the mother of Chelsea, Jody and Chad died on the same night that she celebrated her 25th wedding anniversary. This is devastating news as there are not to many better people in this world than Sheila. She was always in such high spirits and had a great outluck on the world. Her family was always number one to her and she will surely be missed. My heart goes out to the Borgrud family as this loss seems totally unfair. My hope is she is in a better place watching her children and grandchildren from above. When I hear news like this it kind of puts life in perspective, as she healthy and active, there really is no rhyme or reason to life or death, and this reiterates the importance to live life to the fullest and never take any day with your loved ones for granted because you never know which day will be the last you may share with them. Again I mourn for the family as this loss will be felt forever.

NFL Draft Part Two: The Losers

C

Pittsburg Steelers- I really think Timmons could be the best linebacker in this draft especially in Pittsburg. He hasn’t played football for that, one year starter at FSU, but when he gets the 3-4 figured out he has all the tools. Woodley is an energy guy that should also give them production at rush end. I really though Micheal Bush would have been a good fit for them in the third, as they still do not have a compliment to Willie Parker.

Jacksonville Jaguars- The Jags traded down and still got the guy the wanted in Florida safety Reggie Nelson so it wasn’t a bad draft, but Justin Durant and Mike Walker who are solid picks, do not give them the speed rusher the badly needed to make Peyton Manning and Vince Young’s life difficult.

Chicago Bears- The Bears filled a need with TE Olsen, but they failed to do what has made them the cream of the NFC for the last two seasons, that is build depth on defense. With Tank Johnson probably out half the year and Ian Scott yet to be resigned Branch seemed to be a perfect fit. Garret Wolfe is an interesting player, but I think Lorenzo Booker would have been a better fit. I don’t see Wolfe even coming close to the production of Thomas Jones. Olsen needs to become the second coming of Bavarro for this to be an exceptional draft, and I just do not see that happening.

Denver Broncos- I guess I don’t really think the Broncos had a bad draft I just question some of the moves they made. I like Jarvis Moss with the 1st round pick he is a solid selection who should give them a great pass rush opposite Dumervil. I am not sold on Ryan Harris the Tackle from Notre Dame being tough enough to play LT in the NFL, and Marcus Tubbs, looks more like Dexter Manley then Warren Sapp.

Indianapolis Colts-
Again I don’t think the Colts had a bad draft just question some of the picks. Anthony Gonzalez has to be thanking someone to fall into the perfect system, he is going to flourish. Stopping the run was a big problem for them and they lost one of there best linebackers in Cato June, a replacement, or a run stuffing D-tackle to take Monte Reagors spot would have been nice.

New Orleans Saints- The Saints went offense with 2 of there top 4 picks with Receiver Meacham and RB Antonio Pittman. Both of those guys are good, but those were not needs. I thought Chris Houston of Arkansas would have been a smarter number one and I just don’t see this defense improved through this draft.

Dallas Cowboys- This grade could be imcomplete since they get a future first rounder from the Browns in the Quinn trade. That pick could land them a nice running back next year with Slaton, McFadden, Rice, and Hart all available. They did get a perfect compliment to Demarcus Ware in Anthony Spencer, but none of there other picks impressed me.

Tampa Bay Buccanears- Gaines Adams and Simeon Rice should make that defense intimidating again. Aaron Sears is a nice runner-up prize since Joe Thomas did not slip down to them. I think they added good depth, but I think a replacement for there to aging cornerbacks, Kelly and Barber, should have been addressed.

C-

Baltimore Ravens- I like the two lineman the selected in Ben Grubbs from Auburn and Marshal Yanda from Iowa. That was an area that needed to be addressed. I just don’t see any special players from this draft class and that happens when you pick at the bottom of every round.

Cincinnati Bengals- I don’t think Hall is ever going to be a pro bowl quality CB. From what I saw of him he was helped by playing in a great defense and he was exposed when playing against other elite players. Kenny Irons is a nice compliment to Rudy Johnson, but I don’t see a ton of upside with him either. Their draft was solid but nothing spectacular.

Houston Texans- I think Amobi Okoye could be one of the most special players in this draft, he has that much ability. I also agree you need to build that defense up to win in that division, however they had a chance to take a few players that would have given there 40 Million dollar investment, Matt Schaub, more chances to succeed and I don’t think they did.

San Diego Chargers- This is a team with out a lot of holes, but one that I do think they have is on the corner both offensively and defensively. Craig Davis was the number 3 receiver on his college team, and he could be great but I thought Anthony Gonzalez would have been a great weapon over the middle to compliment Antonio Gates. They did add good depth on the defense.

New York Giants-
Not a bad draft by any means but nothing special either. I thought offensive line should have been priority number one, but apparenty it wasn’t. I like Aaron Ross but I think he has more of a second round grade. Steve Smith, is a great compliment to Burress and should be a real good possession receiver for the G-Men.

St Louis Rams- Adam Carriker is a guy who is going to add excellent versatility to that defensive line, but they may have taken him too early. I thought a safety like Reggie Nelson would have been a great fit. I do like the pick of Brian Leonard in the 2nd though he seems more like a Mike Martz type player than a Sean Linehan. We will see if Linehan can get the most out of his ability.

D+

Tennessee Titans- With the loss of there two top receivers from last year I really thought Meacham would have been the pick here. Mike Griffin is going to be a good player in this league, but I think the Titans are doing Vince Young no favors by not giving him any help. With the loss of Travis Henry also they are putting a lot on the shoulders of the talented second year player.

Washington Redskins- This D+ is a deceiving grade. Laron Landry is a difference maker. I just don’t know how important it is too have two great safeties when you dline is an absolute sieve. They added some nice prospects at linebacker, but that was already one of there deeper positions. I like all the players just not what they needed most. They picked best available pretty much all the way through and I punished them for that.

D

Philadelphia Eagles- Ick! There first pick was on a quarterback after they signed Harrington. I guess McNabb is not getting healthy. They are usually one of the best drafting teams building from up front. I just wasn’t blown away with any of there picks.
