Meet The Newest Brewer

This is a big off-season for the Crew, coming off a season in which they didnt live up to expectations, they will need to add some pieces if they want to get back to being a 90 win club. With Prince Fielders days in Milwaukee possible numbered, the window for winning a world series may be very small. I believe they got off to a good start signing Gregg Zaun. He is probably someone the casual fan has never heard of but after checking out his website I am positive he will be a fan favorite. LINK This is probably the best MLB player website out there. Zaun will be much better than Jason Kendall for nearly half the price. Just the fact that I dont have to watch Kendall hit into 30 double plays a year, while struggling to get on base at a .300 clip, will make this deal worth it. Brewer fans get ready for the Zaunby nation!

Sure, but did you know that our pitchers relied on Kendall's genius ability to call a game? Wait, our pitching sucked anyway. Go Zaun!!

Tk,

Glad you pointed out one of my biggest pet peeves in the sport. Maybe it is because I never played baseball at a high level, but the ability to call a game seems to be one of the most overrated traits a catcher can have. The only way I can see to put a weight on this is look at the team's era and since the team ERA blew dick last year, I dont know how anyone can use this argument.

Even if he was better than average calling games, his inability to hit, throw out runners, and get on base would fully negate any advantage that he would give us. I know it is only a minor deal, but you could consider this addition by subtraction.
